iPhone SE 4 specifications surface, including pricing and launch timeframe.
Apple's low-cost iPhone SE series has consistently been a peculiar offering. It has strong internals in a recognizable, if a little antiquated, design. With contradicting rumors on the impending iPhone SE 4's design and camera arrangement, leaks about the device have been as unclear.
A leak from earlier this week claimed the phone would mimic the look of the iPhone 16, including the dual rear camera setup. This went against earlier rumors and leaked CAD renders that said there was only one back camera.
Now, a fresh leak from reliable source Ice Universe provides some insight into the likely features of the iPhone SE 4, perhaps dispelling the claims about a dual camera.
Ice Universe claims that the iPhone SE 4 will have a 48-megapixel single back camera. Given that the SE 3's display measures 4.7 inches, the screen's claimed 6.06-inch size is noteworthy. It might still feature a 60Hz refresh rate, though, which will seem antiquated given that even mid-range Android phones have screens that are smoother at 90Hz or 120Hz. The smartphone is expected to be powered by Apple's most recent A18 Bionic chip. Six or eight gigabytes of LPDDR5 RAM are also mentioned in the leak, along with an unidentified modem that may come from Qualcomm or Apple.
A few design details spilled by the tipster include an aluminum side frame. This aligns with previous reports suggesting the phone will ditch the iconic home button and chunky bezels of older SE models, opting for a design closer to the current iPhone lineup. There’s also mention of Face ID which will replace Touch ID on its predecessors. Finally, the leak suggests a USB-C port, a welcome change considering the current Lightning connector. Price-wise, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to land between $499 and $549. The launch window is rumored to be sometime between March and May 2025.
